Salamba Bhujangasana (Sphinx Pose)

This month, let’s explore sphinx pose, a gentle backbend. It involves lying on your stomach and lifting your chest while supporting the upper body on your forearms. This pose strengthens the spine, stimulates the abdominal organs, and relieves stress by opening the chest and shoulders. You can modify the pose by placing a folded blanket under your forearms for extra support or widening the stance of your legs for comfort.

Here are some alignment suggestions: keep the elbows directly under the shoulders, press the forearms and hands firmly into the ground, and gently engage the lower back and abdominal muscles to support the lift.
