An Exploration of Backbends Workshop
On Saturday, February 18th , Kaitlyn Romei will be leading this workshop from 12noon until 2pm.
This workshop will provide students with a deep understanding of the spine and Kaitlyn will teach
exercises and drills focused on developing the strength, flexibility, and mobility necessary to practice
healthy backbends.
This is a great opportunity for anyone who has reached a plateau in their back bending practice and is
looking for ways to spice up their practice. It is also great for slowing down and explaining certain
aspects of back bending that often aren’t completely covered in class because time is limited.
Specific postures that will be broken down and explored are wheel pose, camel pose, and dancer pose.
Not only will different ways to enter these postures be taught but also ways in which students can find
proper engagement within the body and work towards deeper variations.
This workshop is designed for all levels. The only prerequisite is the ability to get up and down from the
floor with ease. If you are a Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher, this workshop is accepted for
continuing education hours. There will be an opportunity for Q & A at the end of the workshop.
Space is limited and advanced registration is required. Cost $50 per person, $40 for Body Balance auto-
renewal and annual members.
